Alaska King Salmon Fishing

Saltwater

King salmon are accessed in saltwater while fishing from boats out of the lodge. Most saltwater kings are taken while trolling with down-riggers along productive shorelines.

We sometimes catch rock fish, silver salmon and halibut while trolling for king salmon adding variety to the catch. Likewise, kings are sometimes taken while jigging for halibut and silver salmon. In the big ocean you never know what may happen.

Saltwater king salmon are available throughout the lodge season (May through September). The largest kings taken by AlpenView anglers have exceeded 50 pounds and generally occur in May and June.

Freshwater

King salmon are sometimes available while fly fishing at our out camp. This freshwater king run is not large and may, or may not, be open for fishing. Most freshwater kings are taken while fly fishing for sockeye salmon in June and early July.

Freshwater fly fishing for kings at our camp can sometimes be an added bonus but booking a trip to target them exclusively is not recommended.
