Alaska Sea Bass Fishing

Sea bass provide a fast action saltwater fishery

Sea bass (black rock fish) are accessed by traveling, and fishing, from boats out of the lodge. Most are taken while jigging and fly fishing around under water rock pinnacles where they live and feed. They are extremely aggressive and will slam almost anything you can get in front of them. Several other species are caught while jigging and fly fishing for sea bass.. It’s common to catch halibut and ling cod near the same rock pinnacles.

We often target sea bass when fishing with families with children and when we hold saltwater fishing contests as it is fast action and relatively simple. Everyone can be hooked up at once!

Sea bass average 4 pounds and some can exceed 10 pounds. Sea bass are available throughout the lodge season; July, August, and September.
